Give research a specific question

A category expansion, a competitor review and a creator shortlist are different jobs. Name the question and the sources you need. The proposed product is intended to support research decisions, not replace your own shop records or financial assessment.

Review a manageable set

Start with a small category and a named list of products or shops. Keep observations comparable by date and geography where that information is available. Do not equate public engagement with verified sales.

Agree coverage before a pilot

TikTokData is in development and independent of TikTok. The first pilot depends on validated data sources, access and cost. A pilot agreement would define exactly which fields, history and update cadence are supported.

TikTokData / Review packageExample
✓
Starting pointOne category / a defined product set / research owner

Keep the source and scope attached to the work.

✓
Useful handoffEvidence to investigate alongside independently verified commercial facts

The next owner needs enough context to understand the deliverable.

✓
Review decisionObserved content does not establish current inventory, margin or sales.

A named owner should be able to accept, revise or reject the direction.

The details matter

A stronger record starts with clear boundaries.

Connect the research question to a decision

A seller may want to understand how a category is being demonstrated or which product use cases deserve closer review. Name that question before collecting a large product list. Define the geography, product set and observation window so the result can be interpreted. Keep a research owner responsible for checking whether the evidence is sufficient.

Use activity alongside verified business information

An observed mention can be one input to an investigation. Buying, pricing and inventory decisions also need current commercial information that content observations cannot establish. Confirm source rights and coverage before a real pilot. The product concept does not promise exact competitor sales, a complete market census or guaranteed profitable products.

A worked planning record

Know what is observed. Know what is not.

A question, the supporting context and a decision that remains open to review.

A few things
to make clear.

Is TikTokData available now?+

TikTokData is in development. The website shows fictional research examples, not a live product database. Pilot scope depends on verified data access and coverage.

Can it show exact competitor sales?+

No such claim is made. Any future estimated metric must be labeled, documented and distinguished from verified first-party data. The example numbers here are fictional.

Is this an official TikTok product?+

No. TikTokData is an independent product concept and is not affiliated with or endorsed by TikTok or ByteDance.

What should we agree before a pilot?+

Source access and commercial rights, geography, product coverage, observation frequency and unavailable fields. Observed content is not verified sales.
